2020 Retrospect and More!

2020 was a shit show. That is the best way to put it. No matter what happened in your personal life, globally it just wasn’t a bag of fun. Nevertheless we persisted, and we continued on. Hell, we started this insane journey with all of you! That’s one hell of win if you ask me! So, instead of looking back at all the horrible things, let’s enjoy our successes! Let’s look back at some of our best moments from 2020, and really remember how much we achieved during that time!

1: The episode that never was!

Did you know, there was an episode that never saw the light of day! (And it never will!) We filmed a handful of things including the beginning of our portlight project and some wood work. In the end, we didn’t have enough footage for it, and some plans changed. So, it went in the trash heap! This little clip is a snippet of that! Enjoy.

2: Our journey was beginning!

Right at the beginning of the COVID we were still wide eyed and bushy tailed. We were ready to take on the world. This moment, we had pulled out the sails to assess whether they needed to be repaired, thrown away, etc. Here is me being silly while Nick waits for me to finish being silly.

3: Nick’s mind and face are both gorgeous!

Episode two, the beginning of our frameless portlight journey! If you haven’t seen it, click here! This was a tough time for both of us. It the beginning lock down, and we were overwhelmed. This was the first time both of us used certain tools, fiberglass, etc. Like, this was a huge triumph for us! Not only did Nick dream up an absolutely amazing design, but we made it come true! He has a beautiful mind, and a beautiful face. Enjoy it folks!

4: It’s electric (boogie woogie)

If you know remotely anything about us, you know we installed an Electric motor on Ixion and did a ton of other rewiring, and just overall a lot of electrical. This entire process was quite the doozy. Though Nick turned out to be quite good at it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. He found a new skill he wanted to hone and learn more about. He’s well on his way to becoming quite the guru. It was getting hot during all this work and this one photo basically sums up me during this entire process.

5: Paint me like your french boats!

Okay, this one might seem simple, but as an artist, I’m proud of it! We did the norm and sanded and painted the bottom, but we also did the stripes! Nick actually did a sprayer on them and they turned out fantastic! We unfortunately have to touch them up in a few places cause the rocks damaged our beautiful stripes, but no worries. This photo actually made it to instagram because it’s freaking beautiful! God this summer was hot!

6: We do everything with pride, including Sail With Pride!

Due to the pandemic, Pride festivals all over the world were shut down, but that didn’t stop us from celebrating. We designed new shirts and our Sail With Pride line began. We wore these shirts in our episodes, while doing boat work, and just all over Cape Cod! We couldn’t go celebrate with our community, but that wasn’t going to stop us from celebrating. And for a bit of some up selling, if you go to our apparel section we have some amazing new designs by Nick. But here is me looking gorgeous!

7: There goes the sunset!

In July we launched, finally! It was a glorious day for us. We had worked hard for months and months and were finally making it into the water. Even though we launched, it didn't mean we were done working. In the end, we should have probably waited, but whatever. We enjoyed the little bit of time we did have. The fact that we made it that far, that fast, with the amount of work we did. We are proud of it! This clip never saw the light of day, because it’s just silly and doesn’t fit anywhere, so enjoy lol. (Also, not sure what happened and why Nick freaked a little.)

8: First sail and Jake’s body

To be honest, I would rather hang around in swimwear and less clothing. Hence our rush to get to Florida! Not a fan of the cold, and I love the warmth. Our first sail of the year was a joyous one! We spent every weekend in 2019, after buying Ixion, on the water. This was our first chance to get back out and it was magnificent! It was such a nice warm day and so relaxing. It definitely reminded us why we were working so hard! This photo never made our instagram and was reserved for my private account, now you can enjoy it too! Lol

9: Holiday? Holislay? Or just plain lucky?

We were lucky, kinda. During this whole COVID mess, a lot of people have been away from family. They have had to go an entire year without seeing those they love and even spending the holidays alone. We got lucky in that we had been staying with Nicks parent’s during this whole refit journey, so when the holidays came around, we actually got to spend it with family. For that, we are truly thankful and very much understand that we are luckier than so many. The year had been insane, but at least we had some normalcy. So, I share a cute little couple photo of us. Photos that don’t make it here much because, well, I don’t know why.

10: Let’s talk about welds, baby!

Okay, so while it was our least favorite project, it’s one I’m most proud of. This sucker turned out pretty darn good for having never done any of this before. We created a freaking solar arch from scratch! It needs some work, and some changes, but hey this sucker got the job done. So, for a final project, I say it’s a freaking win! Also, the footage looked so good!

Look 2020 was a rough year for a lot of people, us included. Obviously we didn’t show everything. There was plenty of footage that never made the light of day and many hurdles we didn’t talk about. But, at the end of the day, we crushed it. We attempted to refit Ixion with an electric motor, and so much more, and succeeded. We were able to achieve things beyond our wildest dreams, and it’s only just the beginning! I can’t wait to see what happens next and to share it with all of you!
